Day 1-3 of 7
As the title implies, this trip was really intended for shopping and of course partly for food adventures. That’s why unlike any other trip, I didn’t take a lot of photos and just a few random snaps all along. So let’s begin with our Day 1-3 Itineraries.
05.19.2011 – We arrived at Bangkok Loft Inn almost midnight and so we make it a point to rest well, get enough sleep and get up a little later than usual. We had our breakfast around 9:30am and leave the hotel around 11. From the hotel, we walked 3-5 minutes to the nearest BTS station, hop on immediately and alighted directly at Siam Station. At Siam, we go to Be Trend, shop a little and proceed to KFC for some serious spicy chicken.
After the late lunch, we then decided to experience Thai Cinema and since its the opening premiere of Pirates of the Carribean in Thailand, it’s no brainer but to choose that movie, but first we do grab a bucket of popcorn and big tumbler of soda with Blue (Rio) on it before lining up for the film.
05.20.2011 – On our second day, we went to Siam Center again for shopping, just like the other day, we went out during lunch time and headed to Pepper Lunch to enjoy Beef Pepper Rice. After the delightful and savory meal, we wander the famous Siam shopping strip again for more Bangkok finds.
For Dinner, we had a classic Thai street food called kway teow noodle soup and a bottle of cold Pepsi. And then we bought some fresh mango paired with a mix of chili salt and sugar.

BOBAE & MBK
05.21.2011 – For the third day, we went out early, hire a taxi and went directly to one of the cheapest markets in Bangkok. They called it Bo Bae Market, we went here around 8am because as per research the best deals happen before the normal trading hours. Bo Bae is famous for wholesalers looking for cheap and bargains. I bought some quality button down shirts for a mere 75 Baht. Aside from clothing for all sort of ages, you can also buy textile and fabrics here in rock bottom prices too.
HOW TO GET HERE?
By SkyTrain Bobae is kinda hard to find if you’re new to Bangkok, and the easiest is to alight at BTS National Stadium and take a 10 min taxi ride to Bo Bae. It is located inside Prince Palace Hotel and the Market along the 4th Bridge (Yotse Bridge).
We leave Bo Bae after lunch and then we hired a taxi that will take us to our next stop — Mahboonkrong or MBK, this is one of the largest shopping mall in Bangkok boasting 2,000 shops and 4 story Tokyu Department Store. There is so much things to see and shop here, but after hours of window shopping, we then decided to have a bite at Santa Fe Steakhouse and truly we enjoyed the steaks.
HOW TO GET HERE?
By SkyTrain The best way to get to MBK is to catch the sky train and get off at National Stadium. Or if you’re in Siam walk for a bit and you can reach MBK in no time.
Avoid BKK Scam by reading and researching ahead of time and this will save you money and time. When shopping in most malls, ask for tourist card or discount card. Always have small change especially if you’re new to BKK currency. Hope this help and see you on the next part.
