As promised, here’s the complete budget breakdown and itinerary of my 7D/6N Birthday Trip to Taiwan last January-February 2017. After this, expect another entry about my other trip 4D/3N Taiwan BFF Trip and of course, the comprehensive Taiwan Travel Guide next week. I’m hoping you’ll learn out of it and don’t forget to click the linkages for more information.
This was a long overdue trip; My Boo and I been planning for this Taiwan Trip for a few years. Sadly, we canceled two previous trips and so with that, I made prior hotel reservations and acquired NTD notes already amounting to NT$3800. Lo and Behold! Early this year, (Jan 29-Feb 6) we conquered Taiwan on a high note since we got our airfare for free using GetGo Points and we get to see not just Taipei but also explored the gorgeous Nantou, a bit of Taichung and had a glimpse of Kaohsiung. So without further ado, here’s the budget breakdown and awesome itinerary of our 7D/6N Taiwan Trip.

We traveled to Taiwan’s Major Cities Taipei Kaohsiung Taichung & Nantou. If you want to save money (though requires time) you may travel via long-distance buses. We opt for Taiwan High-Speed Rail (3x) most of our journey that’s why our land transport ballooned to this amount. Buy Easy Card for hassle-free traveling.

MNL-TPE RT AIRFARE FOR 2 Paid Via GETGO POINTS Recently, airlines are on sale specifically for this route. You can snag an RT Ticket without meal, baggage, and insurance for only Php3,000-Php4,000 via low-cost airlines Cebu Pacific and AirAsia.
ON HOTEL BOOKINGS In general,we get our hotel bookings slightly higher than regular rates since we book our accommodation on a holiday/peak season (Chinese New Year). You can save more when you travel on lean months.
- HEYBEAR CAPSULE HOTEL, Paid for 2 Capsules for 3 Nights. Check this LINK for HeyBear discounted rates.
- GRAND HILAI HOTEL, I booked this hotel a few years back like 4-5 years ago and I chose this because of their Hello Kitty suite back in the days, but sadly they removed the themed suites early of 2016. Although there are no HK rooms anymore, the good thing is that they still honor the deposit I made and deducted it to its present rate. The rate comes with buffet and since it’s my birthday I give it a go ^_^
- CINGJING Camperhorse Motorhome, If you’re not into unique accommodation there are other cheaper options in the area. Check this LINK for CINGJING Minsu discounted rates
- I booked all of the hotels above using MasterCard that earns reward points which is convertible to getgo.
AIRPORT TRANSPORT My Mom dropped us off at the airport for free. I guess you should include this everytime you travel, your expenses going to the airport and back to your home when you get back from your trip.
TRAVEL TAX Clearly, you need to pay online or upfront Php1620 per pax. Luckily, our travel tax was shouldered by my Dad as a birthday gift and in fact, every time I travel my dad habitually give me money for travel tax.
INSURANCE Traveling and Adventure comes with great risk so insurance is a must!
BAGGAGE are optional but consider the weather and your itinerary, if its winter you’ll need to bundle up so technically you need at least 10-15 KG per trip on top of your 7KG carry-on allowance.
DAILY ITINERARY & EXPENSES
