Genting Highlands Resort

This place is awesome and we like it here since its very relaxing in a way. Touristy but you can blend in with the local and foreigners since everyone just wanted to have fun here. It is located on a stunning mountain top amidst the coolly shrouded trees of which is far away enough to the hustle and bustle of the city.   It just like an entertainment city that sits on a mountain-top secluded but within reach. It has different hotels and resorts that you can choose from depending on your budget and taste preference, shopping malls, theme parks, water-park resorts,  casinos and theatrical shows that rolled into one place. :).

By the way this resort is under the Resort World of which also handles Universal studio in Singapore and RW Manila.

How to get there?

There are several ways and kind of transportation to get there. Click here if you want to check out on how to get there. But for us, our hotel Traders Hotel in KL has arranged a serviced-car since we have heavy luggages. From the city center it took us about 50 minutes or so. We paid around 200 RM (that’s about 66 USD or Php3000 more or less at the time of conversion *pricey) tip included that’s for 2 person with 2 heavy luggage, if you’re a bit conscious about your budget you can just hail a cab on your own and haggle with the cabdriver or check the bus on Pasarakyat Terminal which has line of buses going to highlands. But I already provided earlier the link so you can easily choose the best way for you.

Upon Arrival

The car driver actually offered us to check other interesting places along Genting Highlands but we were too exhausted from last night Mardigras party from our hotel so we refused and decided to take us directly to our chosen hotel. There are four hotels in the GH premise and several bed and breakfast along the way but we have chosen First World Hotel since some of the attractions are located within the hotel area. Up to date they are claiming that this hotel is the World’s largest hotel having 6118 rooms and boasting 50,000 Square Feet indoor theme park. I will just have another thorough review of the experiences that I had with this hotel and let me just go through the Genting Highland details 🙂

What are the things that we did at Genting Highland?

The whole experience was good and really memorable for us since its our first time here in Genting Highlands and we’re like honeymooners who are very delighted and excited in every single activity that we did.

tiny pink hearttiny pink heart Indoor Themed Park and Outdoor Themed Park – super enjoy as in we have tried all scary and bumpy rides that I never imagine that I will ever ride. But since it was my husband who begged for me to join him with his heart stomping desire. But I did enjoy it and play cool the whole day. The whole themed-park experience was quite too long to discuss generally so I will have another blog for this activity.

tiny pink heart Play a little slot in the Casinos just like any other Casinos photos are not permitted so I wasn’t able to have one. I just had few slot and didn’t win at all so after 500 RM of which I just had it back again I stop . Oh Yeah, I’m too frugal for Gambling and do not want to end up losing and whining over large amount of money of which I can use better in acquiring pretty stuff like shopping.

tiny pink hearttiny pink heart Ripley’s Believe it Or not Inside the indoor theme park, you can check out Ripley’s believe it or not for only 18 RM/adult (6 USD or Php280). Well if you’re curious and enthusiast about mysterious and crazy stuff then this museum is something not to be missed. I and my husband Dennis enjoys this very much and took photos of every single stuff that catches our attention. Will have another thorough review of this attraction soon.

tiny pink hearttiny pink heart Food Trip we really enjoy our stay there and eat curry as much as we could since I love how malay cook their curry. Nasi Lemak – This is considered the national dish and a national heritage of of which is a must try if you’re there. What is in the plate it contains cucumber slices, small dried anchovies, roasted peanuts, hard boiled egg, and hot spicy sauce sambal at its core. As a more substantial meal, nasi lemak can also come with a variety of other accompaniments such as chicken,  stir fried water convolvulus (kangkong) and beef rendang (beef stewed in coconut milk and spices) or paru (beef lungs). Usually of these accompaniments are spicy in nature.
